The I-95 tanker fire and bridge collapse in Philadelphia on June 11, 2023, was caused by a crash or other incident that sparked a fire below the highway lanes.
The fire burned so hot that it caused the roadway to collapse. The southbound lanes were also structurally compromised in the fire.
The Philadelphia Fire Department responded to the large fire under I-95 near the Cottman Avenue exit around 6:30 a.m. Officials said the fire was placed under control at 7:30 a.m., but the heat from the blaze caused a bridge on northbound I-95 to collapse.
The cause of the truck fire is under investigation and there is not any information about the driver to be found?
